and the famous Silo Hotel

Cape Town – The Silo District at the V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s newest hubs, and it has plenty to offer.

The area offers something for everyone: from gourmet food and world-class shopping to edgy art – everyone will find what he is looking for.

The heart of the Silo District is the re-imagining of the historic Grain Silo into the internationally anticipated Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). It is the secret star of the Silo District and  Africa’s largest art museum. It showcases the incredible art of Africa and its diaspora and is a truly world-class institution. The architecture alone makes the museum worth a visit. The building is made up of curved concrete lines, with light pouring in through the cylindrical structures. It’s housed in an important historical landmark – the old grain silos, built in the 20s – and the building gives visitors a stunning cross section of the old industrial site.

Besides the art, the Silo District offers a veritable feast of dining options. Go for oysters and bubbles at the Silo Rooftop, or platters and craft beer at The Yard. Stop by at the Lindt Chocolate Studio to pick up some dessert and watch chocolate being made. You can share delicious tapas at Si! Cantina-Sociale or sit down for classic breakfasts and lunches at the Granary Café. You see, plenty of options and there are many more ...

And of course it offers the famous Silo Hotel, which sets a new standard for luxury Cape Town accommodation. A magical hotel towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City.

The Silo Hotel has been built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex occupying six floors above Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) which houses Africa’s largest collection of contemporary African art.

The development of the Silo District is the realization of urban, waterfront living. The history of the Silo District lies in the purely working world of industry and storage, which can still be found and comprise the charm of this district.
Now the space between city and water is designed with thought and consideration for urban conservation and sustainability. It's definitely worth a stroll.
