Just a short 20 minute drive from Paarl, you discover the next gem of the Route 62, Wellington. Famous for it's wines, brandies and olive oils, but also for some lovely outdoor activities. If you have a lot of time to spare,  there are walking trails through vineyards, orchards and olive tree farms that are very popular.   One of the well known outdoor experiences if visiting Wellington, is the "Tweedetol Rock Pools" off the "Bainskloof Pass" (also an essential drive to take, and perfect hiking and mountain biking opportunties), in the Limietberg Nature reserve.  It is truly a beautiful spot for a picnic around the waterfalls, but get there early as numbers are limited.
If history and architecture is more up you alley, then you will also enjoy a good walk around the churches and halls of Wellington. The town of Wellington was founded in 1840 and named after the Duke of Wellington. There is a lot of wonderful Cape Dutch style homesteads to explore.
