Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Cape Town!

We welcome you to South Africa. You arrive at the international airport of Cape Town, where your Rental Vehicle will be ready and waiting for pick up. Your journey begins with a visit to the famous Table Mountain, a must for any Cape Town visitor. The driveway is weather dependent, but your tickets are valid for 1 week. After the ride with a Cable Car to the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean, including the harbor and Robben Island. The rest of the day is at leisure. Cape Town is a metropolis with many different facets that will draw your attention. Stroll along the V & A Waterfront and treat yourself to a refreshing drink in one of the numerous bars and restaurants. If you are interested in the history of South Africa, the Bo-Kaap Museum or the South African Museum is the best place for you.

Day 2: Cape Town

Today is your day of Leisure. After a delicious breakfast, you can start the Peninsula Tour to the Cape of Good Hope, a stunning highlight in South Africa. The famous Cape is located in the middle of a nearly 8,000 hectare nature reserve, known as the Cape Peninsula National Park. There are plenty of places of interest such as Boulders Beach with the famous Penguin Colony, the cozy little town of Simons Town, the long beaches, as well as the Chapman's Peak Drive which is the famous coastal road above False Bay. Another attraction is the Two Oceans Aquarium, which takes you on a magical journey and has over 3,000 different aquatic animals such as sharks, fish, turtles, and penguins. Here, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a delicious piece of cake, while your children can play outside at the playground.

Day 3: Cape Town

Today, you can make a trip to Robben Island. The former prison island, situated in the Cape Bay facing Cape Town, is now a natural monument and memorial. The first dark-skinned President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, spent part of his imprisonment on this island. Alternatively, you can book a trip to Khayelitsha. This is the largest township of Cape Town. During a guided tour through this township, you will learn about the local way of life, and how the participation in a rowing club has changed lives. This tour includes a Hotel Pick-up as well as drop off. 

Day 4: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn

Today you will be driving through the Little Karoo on the way to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the country. This industry began in 1880, when the ladies from Europe and America discovered their love for ostrich feathers. The houses of the rich "Ostrich Barone" adorn the cityscape of Oudtshoorn, can still be seen today. After your arrival, you will visit an ostrich farm and learn about the breeding of these giant birds by means of a guided tour.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn

Today is a day of leisure. The Cango Caves are located in the Oudtshoorn area, and are one of the largest drip caves in the world. Let yourself be impressed by this unique natural phenomena, while you take a guided tour through the different rock formations! At the Cango Wildlife Ranch, families can enjoy some time observing a wide variety of wildlife from near and far. If you are more daring, you can take a swim with a crocodile or stroke a cheetah! Another very special experience is the Meerkat-Experience, which takes place early in the morning (must be pre-booked).

Day 6: Oudtshoorn - Knysna

From the interior of the country, you are now making your way to the coast of the Garden Route. Drive along the coast until you reach Knysna, a beautiful lagoon town, with a cozy waterfront to stroll through. A variety of beautiful beaches, dense indigenous forests, freshwater lakes and the Outeniqua Mountains offers a true sense of paradise.

Day 7: Knysna

Enjoy a boat Cruise on the Knysna Lagoon today, which takes you passed the Knysna Heads, the two spectacular rock formations that surround the lagoon. Pay Monkeyland a visit. On a roughly 12 hectare site, it boasts with a diverse collection of monkey species from Africa, Asia and South America, who live together peacefully, in a huge enclosure. Experienced guides will teach you about the different behaviours of the monkeys and guide you through the terrain. This is an attraction that is fit for the whole family!

Day 8: Knysna

Today is at your leisure. Drive to Tsitsikamma National Park in the morning, where trees are up to 850 years old and more than 50 meters high. After an easy hike, you will reach the suspension bridge at Storm's River. The National Park is also home to the "Big Tree", an approximately 800-year-old Yellowwood tree. It has a height of 37 m, with the trunk alone being 18 m high, and has a circumference of around 9m and a volume of over 50 m³.

Day 9: Knysna - Mossel Bay

Today, your journey will take you to Mossel Bay. The highlight on the itinerary is the magnificent animal world of South Africa. Check in at the Garden Route Game Lodge and go directly on an afternoon game drive on an open off-road vehicle. You have the chance to see the Big 5: lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros. Keep your eyes and ears open and enjoy the fauna and flora up close!

Day 10: Mossel Bay

Your day starts off with an early morning game drive. Be amazed at which animals can be discovered early in the morning and see how South Africa awakens! Lunch is at leisure. Take advantage of the amenities of your accommodation, and look forward to the next safari in the afternoon! So, keep your camera ready, to press the trigger at any time. Maybe an elephant will be standing right next to you!

Day 11: Mossel Bay - Stellenbosch

After breakfast, you will leave for the Wine Route, not far from Cape Town. Over 200 years ago, the Huguenots began producing wine in the Cape region. Nowadays, the Cellars of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are world famous and their wines are world-renowned. Here you can take a short walk through the historic town centre of Stellenbosch. You can also taste the delicious wine on a winery tour at one of the numerous wineries. The Wier, Middelvlei and Lourensford wineries not only offer wine tasting for the adults, but also an alcohol-free grape juice sample for the children, where they learn to identify different flavors and textures, similar to a normal wine tasting.

Day 12: Stellenbosch

Use the time today to meet your own desires. You can also visit Stellenbosch Village Museums, where you can get to know the history of South Africa's second city in four different houses. Alternatively, The DelVera Agri-Village offers a true children,s paradise, where the little ones can visit a petting zoo or take a ride on a go-kart. There are also horses for riding and a bicycle trail where children can put their skills to the test. In the meantime, you can relax with a coffee or browse through one or the many shops. In the Toy and Miniature Museum, visitors will find miniature houses, antique dolls, cars and cuddly toys, as well as a detailed miniature replica of South Africa's famous Blue Train, the only miniature of its kind in Africa. Design the day according to your interests.

Day 13: Depart Stellenbosch

Today, it is time to say goodbye to South Africa. Drive back to the Cape Town International Airport.
