Day 1: Maun International Airport – Makgadikgadi Pans

Welcome to Botswana! Right after your arrival at the Maun International Airport you will take a further flight towards the Makgadikgadi Pans. The Makgadikgadi Pan, a salt pan situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana, is one of the largest salt flats in the world. After landing, a camp representative will welcome you and attend you on your way to the camp. Once arrived, you can enjoy the amenities of the luxury safari camp.

Day 2: Makgadikgadi Pans

The activities at the luxury camp are tailored to guests’ specific needs and include game drive visits to the local meerkat colony, guided walks, quad biking and horse riding. Your guide is a qualified Zoologist / Biologist and he will be delighted to assist you with his knowledge about this special region.

Day 3: Makgadikgadi Pans – Maun – Moremi Game Reserve

You will leave the Makgadikgadi Pan and take a flight back to Maun, followed by a second flight from Maun to your accommodation on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve. The Moremi Reserve is situated at the heart of the Okavango Delta and was the first wildlife area to be set aside by tribal people rather than colonial powers. A Lodge representative is looking forward to welcome you and will transfer you to the Lodge. Right after your arrival, your first afternoon game drive awaits you.

Day 4: Moremi Game Reserve

Enjoy your stay at the Okavango Delta and the exciting morning and afternoon game drives throughout the many different ecosystems that the Reserve has to offer. The rest of the day is free to spend some time at leisure or to use the spa treatments. On request, you have the chance to partake in an exclusive night safari.

Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve – Okavango Delta

Today, your flight to another camp in the Moremi Game Reserve takes place. Enjoy your stay with the mainly water based activities, like the Mokoro boat excursion.

Day 6: Okavango Delta

Besides two open vehicle game drives another highlight awaits you: You will partake in a memorable helicopter safari, which provides a birds-eye view of this magnificent landscape.

Day 7: Okavango Delta – Chobe National Park

Today’s inter-camp flight will take you from the heart of the Delta to the Savute area situated in the Chobe National Park, with its sweeping expanse of savannah dotted by rocky outcrops surrounding a marsh and the Savute Channel. Moreover, the Chobe National Park hosts the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. Certainly, you will meet the grey giants on one of your two game viewing activities per day.

Day 8: Chobe National Park

Apart from your morning and afternoon game drives, today’s day is at your own disposal.

Enjoy a variety of leisure activities or just take a break from everyday life. A good opportunity to enjoy some adventure and participate in an exclusive excursion to Bushmen paintings and baobab trees.

Day 9: Chobe National Park – Kasane International Airport – Option for Extension: Livingstone, Zambia

Today you have to bid farewell to Botswana. In the morning, your flight from the Savute area to the Kasane International Airport takes place from where you return home.

Victoria Falls Extension

From Kasane Airport, you will be transferred by road to your accommodation in Livingstone, Zambia.

In the afternoon, you enjoy an unforgettable cruise on the Zambezi River to see the world famous Victoria Falls as well as a stunning sunset.

Day 10: Livingstone

Today is free to spend some time at leisure, to relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel. Other more adventurous activities can be booked as well, for example, Helicopter flips over the falls, white water rafting on the Zambezi River, gorge hikes or various safari activities.

Day 11: Livingstone - Departure

Your Africa adventure ends today. Your flight from Livingstone International Airport is taking place, followed by your international flight back home.

Our Mirjam and Kerstin recently spent time at Owls Rest Olive and Lavender farm. Located on Route 62 between Robertson and Ashton and nestled in the foothills of the Langeberg mountains in the Klaasvoogds River valley, lies this beautiful lavender and olive farm. Visitors also get the opportunity to experience a working farm where Lavender, Rosemary and Rose Geranium are harvested by hand and then steam distilled to extract the beautiful essential oils and floral water from these crops. Although to the human eye, these stripes seem the same, these unique stripes help other zebras tell them apart in the wild! The reason zebras even have stripes in the first place is for thermoregulation. The black stripes absorb heat from the sun and warm up zebras during the early morning, while the white stripes reflect more light and help them cool off while they stand and graze in the blazing sun of Africa all day. 🦓 #myamazingafrica #zebra #FunFactMonday

Happy #FunFactMonday! Did you know the teeth of African Wild Dogs are specially adapted and are unlike those of any other canid? After making a kill, wild dogs consume their prey as rapidly as possible before it is potentially stolen by other bigger predators, such as lions and hyenas. Unlike other types of dogs, their lower teeth are curved and blade-like. This special dental adaptation allows them to quickly tear apart and shred the carcass. Happy #WorldPenguinDay! Today, marks World Penguin Day as it coincides with the Adelie penguin's yearly migration cycle. We are celebrating these flightless birds and all of the traits that make them unique (and pretty darn cute, too 😉). Here are a few facts about the African penguin that you might not have known: 1. African penguin's have pink glands above their eyelids to which they can transfer blood to help cool down in the hot summer months. The pinker a penguin's brow glands become, the hotter it is. 2. The African penguin's black and white coloring is a sort of counter-shading camouflage that also allows them to easily coordinate movement underwater. 3. African penguin's were once known as jackass penguins because they produce a donkey-like braying sound. The area is famously home to populations of Zanzibar red colobus monkey (an endangered species found only in Zanzibar) and our Mirjam and Kerstin were lucky to enjoy an amazing sighting of this species followed by the impressive mangrove forest. The King's Blockhouse was built in 1796 by the British as a defensive and lookout position and it allows a complete view of False Bay and the Castle. The Blockhouse is on the Contour Path which continues in both directions towards Kirstenbosch and towards Table Mountain. Our Marika was invited to the reopening function of Okapuka Safari Lodge in Namibia! Following recent renovations, the lodge has partnered with the Gondwana Collection Namibia to manage its operations. While dolphins are a bonus, they are not the sole reason to grab an oar and head out into the deep and cool waters, the unique view of Table Mountain and Lions Head is entirely different from a land-based view. Being out on the water and at sea level gives one a special sense of awe and is a wonderful opportunity to snap some unusual pics. Did you know the rocky headland of Cape Agulhas is the place where two oceans – the Indian and Atlantic – meet? 🤝 Early Portuguese seafarers rounding the most southern tip of Africa called it Capo du Agulhas, which means Cape of Needles (referring to the jagged rocks of the coastline). It is estimated that almost 200 ships have sunk off the shore of Cape Agulhas in the past 200 years. Most notably, the Japanese ship Meisho Maru’s wreckage is still visible just offshore. At 1 000 metres above sea level, this is the world’s highest commercial abseil, making for an exhilarating experience. As you are lowered into the vortex, the vast blue ocean stretches out before you, and Camps Bay, Lion’s Head and The Twelve Apostles form a panorama of splendour. The views, and the memories, of dangling 3,200 feet above the beautiful city of Cape Town are not to be missed. Happy #FunFactMonday! Our Ryan's recent journey to Robben Island began from the moment she stepped foot into the Nelson Mandela Gateway situated in the Clock Tower precinct, at the V&A Waterfront. This Gateway isn’t just another ticket office or loading dock but a museum itself – one housing exhibitions tracing local political history and is much more than meets the eye from the outside. Robben Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and many know it as the place where South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela, spent 18 years of his 27 years in prison along with many others who fought for South Africa’s freedom. But the island is rich in history that spans further than any history books have ever told. Bourke's Luck Potholes is a magnificent natural attraction located along the Panorama Route, and marks the beginning of the Blyde River Canyon, the greenest canyon in the world, and has been formed by years and years of swirling whirlpools eroding holes into the bedrock of the Treur River. The potholes were named after Tom Burke, a gold digger who staked a claim nearby. Plus, proof that business success and commitment to protecting the environment and uplifting the local community can, indeed, be a winning combination. The reason why Ngwenya Glass is so special is that only recycled glass is used to make their unique products – mainly old drink bottles. Each and every piece is totally handmade and mouth blown. People from all over Swaziland collect bottles and are paid per kilo for clean glass. But have you ever met or seen a zebra with spots instead of stripes? Well, neither have we! 😉 Born in Kenya's Mara Reserve, this baby zebra has a unique polka dot appearance. He was 'spotted' in 2019 by a group of photographers, and was named Tira, the surname of the guide who found him! We’ve all heard of the term “sustainable tourism,” but just how much do we understand about the more recent concept of regenerative tourism? When you think of the words “regenerate” and “regenerative,” concepts of renewal and restoration tend to come to mind, and this is just what regenerative tourism encourages – for visitors, rather than just maintaining an area, activity or community, instead actively seeking for ways in which to revitalise the areas and communities impacted by tourism. Here are a few simple ideas on how to look out for regenerative tourism opportunities: 🌍When you contribute to a local economy, you enable the community to exist, thrive, and give back to their community. Stop and explore rather than just aiming for quick and easy. 🌍Next time you head out the door while visiting a new area, take a bag with you to pick up litter as you explore. It might seem menial, but every bit of litter collected contributes to the regeneration of the environment. 🌍Is the country or the destination you’re visiting running any social projects? Cheers to the first week of 2023!🍹🥂 Here is Tharo from @timeandtideafrica , making his favourite cocktail: Pimm's O'Clock (That literally implies lazy, happy days sitting in the sun with nothing to do and no need to worry about time) to welcome guests to the enchanting Lower Zambezi. You’ll need: Ice, to fill the jug 200ml Pimm’s No 1 600ml Carbonated Lemonade 1 sprig mint leaves 1 small cucumber, sliced 1 medium orange, sliced ½ cup of strawberries, hulled and halved To serve: + Gather the ingredients + Fill a glass jug with ice + Mix the Pimm’s with lemonade in the jug. For a single serving, go with one part of Pimm’s per three parts of lemonade + Lightly crush the mint in your hand to release the scent and oils. Add it to the Pimm’s along with the cucumber slices, orange slices and strawberry quarters + Stir with a long-handled spoon and serve in tall glasses with ice F.Y.I this cocktail is best enjoyed watching elephants lumber past whilst hippos snort loudly in the river below. 😉🐘 #myamazingafrica #lowerzambezinationalpark #timeandtide #discoverafrica
