The eco-friendly Camp in Timbavati Game Reserve.

If you are looking for a real Bush experience, but don’t want to renounce standard, the Bateleur Safari Camp is the right place for you.

Based in the Timbavati Game Reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park, the Camp was rebuild in the beginning of 2018 and encouraged to shine with a new gleam.

The Camp is unfenced and features an open-sided wooden deck that houses the lounge and dining areas and overlooks the riverbed and its seasonal waterhole.

Bateleur is totally eco-friendly – they use Solar Energy and when designing and building Bateleur Safari Camp, it was a priority to just leave a very small footprint. No trees were removed during the building process, allowing the camp to unobtrusively blend into the surrounds. Literally hundreds of trees have subsequently been planted in and around the camp.

Accommodating up to 16 people, the camp offers very spacious, comfortable safari units with a unique design. Each unit has a thatched A-frame roof with supporting gum-pole structure and covered patio, canvas sides with large windows offering fixed mosquito screens and roll-down flaps, double wooden front doors with fixed mosquito screens and roll-down flaps for the top half, a large en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower.

Tented walls were chosen over concrete structures, allowing guests inside the units a closer interaction with the outdoors.

The Bateleur Safari Camp also offers their guests, besides the regular open vehicle 4x4 Game Drive, the opportunity to do Bush Walks and a Bushcraft and survival training.
