Zimbabwe has a way of surprising you. It’s a country where big scenery, rich wildlife and genuine hospitality come together effortlessly, and Natasha and Shaheemah’s recent journey through Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, Lake Kariba and Mana Pools reminded us just how special it is.
From iconic landmarks to remote wilderness areas, each stop offered something unique – and each lodge showed exactly why Zimbabwe remains one of Southern Africa’s most rewarding safari destinations.
Our journey began at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, where Waterhole Facing Rooms offered constant wildlife viewing right from the balcony. Friendly staff, hearty meals, two rock pools and spacious lounges made it easy to settle into safari mode. The spa was a standout, set in a quiet corner of the bush with tented treatment rooms and a serene pool area. An evening at The Boma added rhythm, culture and great food to our stay.
Iganyana Tented Camp, offered a relaxed base with an active waterhole and welcoming atmosphere. Night drives delivered sightings of hyena, bush babies, springhares and more, while daytime drives revealed Hwange’s wide landscapes and natural game viewing. A hosted boma dinner with traditional singing brought a memorable local touch to our stay.
Our two nights on The Zambezi Trader brought a complete change of pace. The days included fishing, tender-boat outings, a braai on the shore, and a scenic cruise along the Matusadona shoreline. with scenery ranging from wildlife-filled shorelines to the haunting beauty of Kariba’s petrified trees. Our evenings were peaceful, while we were docked in quiet bays.

Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel offered us a restful overnight stop with sweeping lake views, lush gardens and a large pool – a comfortable break before heading deeper into Zimbabwe’s wilderness.
Mana Pools Safari Lodge delivered some of the most memorable moments of our trip. Just 300m from the Zambezi River, the lodge offers privacy, space and classic safari comfort. Our game drives were excellent, with close lion and elephant encounters – including Mana’s famous elephants standing on their hind legs. A riverside sundowner with a bonfire captured the essence of this remarkable park.

Our journey ended at Pamuzinda Safari Lodge, set in leafy gardens with activities ranging from game drives to kayaking and horse riding – a calm, easy finish to a varied and unforgettable Zimbabwe itinerary.
We left with full hearts, beautiful memories, and a deep appreciation for a country that continues to impress every time we return.
